How to Use Aftir

A simple guide to creating tribute pages, adding stories, uploading photos and videos, and managing your memorial space.

1Start in the Editor

After logging in, choose Editor from the top menu. This is where you manage your memorial pages, tribute pages, media, and your personal legacy page if you have access.

2Create a Tribute Page

To create a new tribute, go to the editor and choose Create Tribute. A tribute page can be used for a family member, friend, mentor, coworker, companion, pet, or anyone you want to remember.

  1. Enter the person or companion’s name.
  2. Add a short description, such as “Beloved father, friend, and teacher.”
  3. Fill in birth and passing dates if you want them shown.
  4. Write the main tribute story in the body section.
  5. Choose whether the page should be published.
  6. Save the page.
Tip: You can start simple. Add the name and a short tribute first, then come back later to add more stories, photos, videos, and details.

3Upload Photos and Videos

Each tribute page can include uploaded media. Use the Upload Media section inside the editor for that page.

  1. Click Choose File.
  2. Select a photo or video from your device.
  3. Add an optional caption.
  4. Check Set as Main Image if you want that photo to be the main image for the page.
  5. Click Upload Media.

After uploading, the media will appear in the uploaded media section where you can update captions, set a different main image, delete media, or reorder items.

4Set the Main Image

The main image is the primary photo shown near the top of the tribute page and on memorial cards.

You can set a main image in two ways:

5Reorder Uploaded Media

Uploaded photos and videos can be rearranged so they appear in the order you want.

  1. Go to the Uploaded Media section.
  2. Drag media items up or down.
  3. Click Save Media Order.
Tip: Put the most meaningful photos near the top so visitors see them first.

6Publish or Keep a Page Private

A tribute page must be published before other people can view it publicly.

If a page is not published, visitors should not be able to view it from the public site.

7Update or Edit a Page Later

You can return to the editor at any time to update a tribute page.

8Visitor Memories and Comments

Some tribute pages may allow visitors to leave memories or comments. These may require approval before appearing publicly.

9Using My Legacy

My Legacy is where you can preserve your own story, reflections, lessons, values, messages, and personal history.

If your account has access, you can edit your My Legacy page from the editor. If you do not have access yet, the My Legacy link will take you to the public information page.

Good Tribute Page Tips

Need Help?

If something does not look right after saving, return to the editor and check that the page was saved, published if needed, and that your media finished uploading.

If a photo or video uploads but the page does not change immediately, refresh the editor and check the uploaded media section.
