Choosing Trusted Contacts

Choosing the right Trusted Contacts is one of the most important decisions you can make when setting up your My Legacy page. Trusted Contacts help protect your future messages, video releases, Time Capsules, and other legacy plans by participating in verification and confirmation processes when required. Who Should You Choose? Trusted Contacts should be people you trust to act responsibly and follow your wishes. Many people choose: • Spouses or partners • Adult children • Siblings • Close friends • Other trusted family members Ideally, Trusted Contacts should be people who know you well and would be aware of major life events that could affect your legacy plan. Consider Future Availability Whenever possible, choose people who are likely to outlive you and remain reachable for many years. While nobody can predict the future, selecting contacts who are younger than you or in good health can help improve the likelihood that your legacy plan will continue to function when needed. Why Backup Contacts Matter Aftir allows you to designate backup contacts for additional protection. People move, change email addresses, lose access to accounts, or become unavailable over time. Backup contacts help ensure that your confirmation requirements can still be met if a primary contact is unable to participate. Keep Information Current Review your Trusted Contacts periodically and update their information when necessary. A legacy plan created today may remain in place for decades. Keeping contact information current helps ensure that future releases can be delivered according to your wishes. Choose Carefully Trusted Contacts do not need to be technology experts. The most important qualities are trustworthiness, reliability, and a willingness to help carry out your wishes when the time comes. Taking the time to choose the right people today can help protect your legacy for future generations.
