Writing a Memorial Biography

There is no "right" way to write a memorial biography. Unlike an obituary, a memorial biography is not meant to follow a specific format. It is an opportunity to share the person as you knew them and preserve the memories that made them special. Some memorial biographies focus on life events and accomplishments. Others focus on personality, relationships, favorite stories, or the moments that people remember most. Consider sharing things such as: • What made them unique • Their personality and sense of humor • Lessons they taught others • Favorite hobbies and interests • Memorable stories • The impact they had on friends, family, coworkers, or their community • What you want future generations to know about them Don't worry about making it perfect. Many of the most meaningful memorials are written from the heart and reflect genuine memories rather than formal writing. You can always return to the memorial editor later to add more stories, details, photos, and memories as they come to mind. A memorial biography is not simply a record of a person's life. It is a way to help others understand who they were and why they mattered.
