Brad Elkins memorial portrait

Born September 19, 1963 — Passed August 19, 2026

Brad Elkins, 62, of Middlebury, Indiana, passed away on August 19, 2026. Born September 19, 1963, in Marion, Indiana, Brad built a life marked by family, sports, work, and a generous, funny, protective, and loving nature.

An honors student and decorated athlete at Penn High, Brad won sectional championships in wrestling and served as defensive captain on the school’s state championship football team. His love of sports continued throughout his life. He pitched for five consecutive league championship teams in the Elkhart softball league and remained an especially devoted Indiana Pacers fan, though he was disappointed never to see them win a championship.

For 20 years, Brad worked as a production manager at DecoGlass Screen Printing, where he helped the company grow from the ground floor. Beyond his work, he led a local Rastafarian congregation and shared his enthusiasm for athletics by coaching Little League and junior high school sports.

Time with family meant a great deal to Brad, as did raising and training animals. Among the memories that reflected his care for animals was the rescue of two puppies, whom he kept for 10 and 12 years until they passed. He counted raising his two children and training multiple pets over the years among his proudest accomplishments.

Brad is survived by his wife, Judy Elkins; his daughter, Kelly Elkins; his son, Jack Elkins; and his dog, Spot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Beth Elkins.

A service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Morningrise Funeral Home in Middlebury, followed by brunch at the Eagles lodge. Thanks are extended to family, friends, co-workers, and the Pacers for bringing Brad joy throughout his life.
